A Resource for Unions and Workers Addressing the Housing Crisis

The Initiative serves as a repository of information on what unions have done and are doing in this area. The Initiative will issue reports on the issue, host resources on its website, and is exploring the possibility of producing a podcast to profile examples of the labor movement addressing housing and homelessness.

Union Jobs as a Path out of Homelessness

The Initiative is working with union and shelter partners to design training programs specifically targeting people experiencing homelessness in order to introduce them to the basics of construction, enable them to obtain relevant certificates, and guide them into building trades apprenticeships with good healthcare, pensions, and sufficient wages to afford housing.
